چکیده

We investigate magnetic properties of color superconducting quark matter within a Ginzburg-Landau approach. The simultaneous coupling of the quark fields to gluonic and electromagnetic gauge fields leads to rotated electromagnetism with a massive (Higgsed) and a massless photon-gluon field. We derive the Ginzburg-Landau equations for superconducting quark matter taking into account the rotated electromagnetism in the general case when the rotation angle α is an arbitrary function of the coordinates. We solve these equations for the isolated vortex in superconducting quark matter. We obtain a solution for the magnetic and gluomagnetic fields and expressions for the calculation of the penetration depth and the quantized magnetic flux in quark matter. For this case we have demonstrated that the occurence of electric and color Meissner currents is a consequence of the color superconducting state of quark matter. We investigate magnetic properties of color superconducting quark matter within a Ginzburg-Landau approach. The simultaneous coupling of the quark fields to gluonic and electromagnetic gauge fields leads to “rotated electromagnetism” with a massive (Higgsed) and a massless photon-gluon field. We derive the Ginzburg-Landau equations for superconducting quark matter taking into account the “rotat...

The rigidity of three flavor quark matter

Cold three flavor quark matter at large (but not asymptotically large) densities may exist in a crystalline color superconducting phase. These phases are characterized by a gap parameter ∆ that varies periodically in space, forming a crystal structure. A Ginzburg-Landau expansion in ∆ shows that two crystal structures based on cubic symmetry are particularly favorable, and may be the ground sta...

Magnetic field of a neutron star with color superconducting quark matter core

The behaviour of the magnetic field of a neutron star with a superconducting quark matter core is investigated in the framework of the GinzburgLandau theory. We take into account the simultaneous coupling of the diquark condensate field to the usual magnetic and to the gluomagnetic gauge fields. We solve the Ginzburg-Landau equations by properly taking into account the boundary conditions, in p...

The strength of crystalline color superconductors

We present a study of the shear modulus of the crystalline color superconducting phase of quark matter, showing that this phase of dense, but not asymptotically dense, quark matter responds to shear stress as a very rigid solid. This phase is characterized by a gap parameter ∆ that is periodically modulated in space and therefore spontaneously breaks translational invariance. We derive the effe...

Exact solutions of the 2D Ginzburg-Landau equation by the first integral method

The first integral method is an efficient method for obtaining exact solutions of some nonlinear partial differential equations. This method can be applied to non integrable equations as well as to integrable ones. In this paper, the first integral method is used to construct exact solutions of the 2D Ginzburg-Landau equation.
